Egyptian writer, author, and translator who devoted himself to writing for children from 1975 onward, producing more than 600 titles distinguished by their graceful style and accuracy of information. His work was also marked by variety, drawing on world folklore, religious heritage, and Arab history. He received many awards and honors, most notably the State Award in Children’s Literature in 1975, the State Appreciation Award in Children’s Culture in 1981, the Suzanne Mubarak Award in 1999 and 2000, and the First Class Order of Sciences and Arts.
