One of the pioneers of illustration for children, an Egyptian artist and author. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1957 and began working in journalism before graduation. He became famous for drawing comic series in children’s magazines, especially the "Shamsa and Dana" series, which children followed for more than twenty years in "Majid" magazine. He drew for many Egyptian magazines and newspapers such as "Rose al-Youssef" and "Sabah El Kheir," designed puppets and sets for children’s theatre, and directed animated films in both France and Egypt. He has many children’s books, most famously "The Story of Aragouz" and "The Story of Sultan."
