Salah Abdel Sabour

(1931–1981) Egyptian poet and one of the leading figures of Arabic poetry. A few years after graduating in 1951, he moved from traditional verse to free verse and became one of its pioneers alongside Nazik al-Malaika and Badr Shakir al-Sayyab. He later employed free verse in theatre and began his dramatic project. He wrote the children’s story "Hayy ibn Yaqzan" especially for Dar El Shorouk.
